This is an excellent entry level camera to the world of DSLR digital photography lightweight with many features found on more expensive cameras. With the choice of LCD screen viewing or using the viewfinder image quality is superb. Fully automatic mode will produce quality images and prints whilst learning and practicing with the array of other manual settings. The interchangeable lenses available snap on and off with ease,camera build is sturdy,solid and well made with the quality expected fron Cannon. Fitted with the battery pack changing from landscape to portrait view is so easy using the buttons on the pack rather than fiddling with the camera settings. Battery life is relatively good but does as to be expected drain the 6 AA battery pack having said that the AA's still retain a good charge after photo sesions. A standard rechargeable battery is also included and holds a good charge. There are a multitude of interchangeable lenses available further enhancing the versatility of this great camera. Video is not available on this model but the quality of the images well makes up for this. The camera uses standard SD cards. All in all a superb buy for the novice or experienced photographer as a back up. Having had severl DSLR's in the past I wouldn't be without this gem !Read full review

Wanted to review the product after I'd taken it into the studio. So far had two very successful shoots with this camera. Easy to use, excellent quality images and easy to use with other photography equipment. Came complete with battery charger and everything, I am more than impressed. I use this Canon EOS 1000D to take photo's of my garden plants to keep a record of what's what. It has presets for Landscape, portrate, action etc but all so is fully automatic with auto focus. Howevrer you can can get into the settings and change it to the way you want it to work. You do need a bit of no how to operate it

My first attempt at DSLR, I cannot fault this camera, I've had lots of help of professionals, telling me which settings and what not to use this camera is up to the job, it's not that difficult to use, auto mode can be a bit sketchy especially if light is not enough, but apart from that it's shutter speed is 1/4000 top end and a iso of 1600 it's a brillant camera would recommend
