I bought this camera because I wanted a versatile one to take on holiday. I have a Nikon SLR, which is a great camera, but you have to carry extra lenses and keep changing them if you want to take both nearby and long distance shots. This one is so compact, but has a great range of features. I particularly like the 42x optical zoom, which is marvellous for taking shots of wildlife at distance. As expected from a Nikon, the picture quality is excellent. Also, unlike the later version, this version has built in GPS, so when you review your pictures and think where on earth did I take that, you can feed the latitude and longitude (part of the EXIF data) into a mapping website. I have found it pretty accurate. I haven't yet come across a dislike, although one of the reviews I saw said it was annoying having to close the screen if you want to use the viewfinder. I don't find this a problem at all. Probably not quite the quality of an SLR, but the overall versatility and lack of weight more than compensates for this.Read full review
This was bought as a present for my husband who absolutely loves it. He has found it over and above his expectations for a camera. The previous owner had said he could not get used to the automatic focus, but my husband has found away around this saying you can auto focus so far using auto focus button then if you are patient by using the same button you gan gradually focus yourself. So all in all delighted with purchase as my husband has found a new hobby and interest to use on holiday, out walking, with family and work.
